These flowers mature into a fruit similar to an apple in appearance, but they don't taste near as good. The pink burst of tiny petals are edible too, but it is hard to get a mouth full so you can enjoy the sweet flavor. They fall to the ground and cover the jungle floor with a hot pink carpet. From a distance, it looks like someone spray-painted a circle of hot pink under the tree. (If you click on the photo, you can see a close up where you can see how the tiny petals look like a fiber optic display.)
Very nice capture! I really like how the branches make an X and then the flowers in the center and it makes it even more interesting that you didn't center the flower in the middle of your picture. Great job!
